To my sweet little Pepino… The first time I saw you on the adoption website, I knew I had to have you. Your name was Linus at the time and you were about a year old. Your front leg was in a cast in your adoption photo and you had the most precious face I’d ever seen. I emailed Angie, the coordinator at AZ Small Dog Rescue to inquire about you and she said you were 1 year old and a “wonderful, well behaved angel.”
I remember 12/17/2010 like it was yesterday. We drove about 30 miles to an adoption event at Pet Smart in Peoria. The first time I saw you, you were jumping on and playing with the other pups and I remember seeing another couple smiling and pointing at you. I immediately asked the adoption coordinator to see you and the moment she put you in my arms, you wrapped your tiny legs around my arm like a bird on a perch and I never let you go.
When I got home that night, I became very ill with a stomach virus. I was very sick so I took the cushions off of the couch, put them on the bathroom floor and you slept with me all night. And for the next ~4,000 nights, you slept against my chest and filled my heart more than you could ever know. You loved me unconditionally through the best and worst times of my life and I know I will never be the same without you. I love you forever my sweet boy <3
