Disco Biscuit

2022 - 2026

Tonight we said goodbye to Biscuit, and there are no words big enough for the loss of a soul so pure.
Biscuit was, quite simply, one of the sweetest beings to ever walk this earth. She was love in its most uncomplicated form — gentle, trusting, joyful, and endlessly kind. Though she was blind, she moved through life with more grace, courage, and heart than many who can see perfectly. She never let anything dim her spirit. She met the world the way she met everyone: openly, warmly, and without fear.
She never met a stranger. Every person who crossed her path became a friend, and every person lucky enough to know her fell in love with her. There was something rare about Biscuit — the kind of goodness that asks for nothing and gives everything.
Biscuit came into this world carrying more challenges than most ever will. She was born without optic nerves, with neurological and structural deficits, and a body that was often fragile and unpredictable. At just six months old, she endured several days of frequent grand mal seizures and had to be hospitalized to stabilize her. That difficult veterinary stay revealed the full scope of the obstacles she faced and came with the heartbreaking prediction that she might only live to be around two years old. But Biscuit had plans of her own. I was blessed to have just under four years with her. By every practical measure, she was dealt a difficult hand from the very beginning, yet none of those things defined her. What defined Biscuit was her sweetness, her resilience, and the way she moved through life with pure trust and love. She may have been medically delicate, but her spirit was nothing short of extraordinary
Today, despite every effort, every medication, every hopeful fight, she suffered one final grand mal seizure. In that moment, it became clear that the greatest act of love left was to free her from fear, confusion, and suffering. Loving her meant letting her go with dignity.
At 10:09 p.m., Biscuit took her last breath while resting in my arms, surrounded by love. Vanessa and I held her close and told her what she had always been, and always will be: perfect.
She leaves behind a silence that feels impossible, but also a thousand beautiful memories stitched into everyday life — the sound of her moving through the house, the comfort of her presence, the sweetness she carried everywhere she went.
Some dogs are pets. Some are companions. And some, like Biscuit, are little miracles entrusted to us for far too short a time.
Run free now, sweet girl. See everything clearly. Feel only peace. Be young forever, whole again, joyful again.
You were loved beyond measure.
You will be missed beyond words.
And you will be carried in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
